New Year, New Cabin Air Filter

We all know that our cars have air filters, but did you know there are different types?

Cabin air filters are relatively new so not all vehicles have them. Cabin air filters clean pollutants out of the air flowing into the interior of your vehicle, keeping your cabin clean of dust pollen and other pollutants put off by your car. A clean cabin air filter keeps out smog, allergens and other harmful pollutants.

If you live in an area with lots of dust or pollen (like many of us in Humboldt do) you may need to change your filter more often than your owner manual suggests. If you live down or frequent dirt roads it’s a good idea to change your filter every 5,000 miles or every oil change. For cars with less pollutant exposure most manufacturers suggest that you change out your cabin air filter every 12,000-15,000 miles, depending on the make and model of your vehicle.

If you’re not due for an oil change yet but you feel like you may be due for a new air filter call us, chances are you do! If you’re car is smelling musty and dusty come on down to Old Town Auto Service and let one of our friendly Service Advisors help you.
